Tap Shoes

Last week, I took a few things to Goodwill. Since we're in a recession, I thought I'd browse the Goodwill store to see what bargains there were. I never usually see anything at Goodwill that I would like to have. There is a certain odor in Goodwill that just reeks of 'used'. I still have to get used to the idea of wearing 'used'. My friend likes to call all the 'used' items she buys 'new-to-me'. I always marvel at what bargains everyone finds at the thrift stores, but I never seem to have such luck.

Until now.

I saw these two pairs of little girl's tap shoes. One pair that belonged to 'Zoe' was in fair condition. The second pair was in excellent, hardly used condition. Obviously Zoe kept up with tap dancing. The words on the metal parts of the shoes were worn out. The little girl of the second pair must have gone a couple of times and decided that tap dancing was not for her. I've been through that. After spending a small fortune in taekwondo outfits, registration, and classes for my sons, they hated it. My youngest is very sensitive to certain noises (as we learned), he just couldn't stand all the shouting.

After conferring with my niece on the cellphone, I purchased the two pairs of tap shoes for my great-niece. Zoe's pair was $1.99 and the non-Zoe pair was $3.99. What a bargain!

I cleaned them up and had some fun with my camera.

And here are Zoe's tap shoes immortalized.
